Exciting Program Shows You How to:
Well then, read on, because Ive got GREAT NEWS for you! If your school is like many, youre probably planning on running some type of "read-at-home" program this year. In San Diego it is called "Read-a-thon", "California Reads", "Books and Beyond"; still others follow other formats. Regardless of what you call them, Read-At-Home programs are a great way to encourage recreational reading among your students. If youve been involved in this type of program before, you know that getting the students excited about the program from the very beginning is absolutely crucial- if theyre not enthusiastic at the start, they certainly wont be 3 weeks into it. Many schools have a special "Kick-Off" assembly for their Reading program, as a way to get the whole thing off on the right foot. Its a good way to let the students know all about the program, and to get their excitement levels higher. Unfortunately, if the "Kick-Off" assembly is a bust, it defeats the whole purpose; to be a success, your "Kick-Off" assembly needs to be REALLY memorable. Thats where I can help! As an avid reader myself, I was very happy when schools began running special Read-At-Home programs- I think theyre a great way to start kids on a life-long reading habit. As a full-time family entertainer, I set about to devise a magic show that would complement a schools existing Reading program. My educational assembly show, The Magic Mystery Book Tour, does just that. WHAT THEYRE SAYING ABOUT Dont take my word for it - read what some schools that have seen my show have to say about it...
WHAT EXACTLY IS THE SHOW? The goal of the show is to inform the students of the wide range of genres of books, and to get them excited about the whole idea of recreational reading. In the past, Ive gotten lots of phone calls from reading specialists and principals who liked the general idea of the show, but wanted more specifics. In a nutshell, the program is a magic show, where every other magic trick performed incorporates a discussion of a different type of book, or an aspect of reading, such as the importance of the library as a source of information. For instance, many students feel that "book" specifically means fiction- i.e. "storybook" or "chapter book". I explain that books are also a wonderful way to learn how to do something new- like building a birdhouse, performing magic, or even flying an airplane. I then talk about learning how to cook from books- cookbooks- and invite a first grade student on stage to participate in a routine where we bake an imaginary cake. The routine concludes with some unexpected and very funny results. I also put a student in the center of a great adventure where they become a great explorer who has to use knowledge from books to escape peril. The Magic Mystery Book Tour is a fun, exciting way to get kids interested in your Read-At-Home Program, and reading in general. During the 45 minute program, your students will:
The show is designed for elementary age audiences, and can be specifically tailored for any grade level, from kindergarten though 6th grade. I can adapt parts of the program to suit the theme of your Reading Program. Ive done shows based on themes such as "Read Around the World", "Be A Read-A-Saurus", "Over the Rainbow", and many more. The Popularity of "HARRY
POTTER" Books Makes this Show The unprecedented popularity of the HARRY POTTER books means more kids than ever are interested in reading AND magic, so this program is GUARANTEED to attract and hold their attention. Many of the schools Ive booked already this year are planning on incorporating the theme of "Magic" into their Read-At-Home program, and this show is the perfect fit. Even if youre using a different theme, youll still love this program- GUARANTEED! (For more about that GUARANTEE, keep reading!) "NO HASSLES" MONEY-BACK GUARANTEE Now, if youve read this far, I assume you are at least somewhat interested in the program, but I also am aware that you may never have heard of me or my program. Your school budget is limited, and youre probably very concerned about wasting your money on a program you may not like. If this is true, please read the next paragraph VERY carefully...
Whens the last time you got a guarantee like that from anyone? And just to further put your mind to rest, there is no deposit required - no money up-front; I dont want you to feel like youre risking anything at all by booking my show. I ask for NO PAYMENT UNTIL AFTER the show is done, and you are 100 percent happy with it. I have presented this show in front of thousands of elementary school students, and I know your school is going to love it. Thats why Im willing to put my money where my mouth is- to make booking my program absolutely RISK-FREE for your school. My assembly is approved by San Diego Schools. FREE STUFF TO MAKE YOUR JOB EASIER! I will send along posters to promote the assembly in advance and provide "Mystery Dollars" after the performance so students can learn magic by reading! A PROFESSIONAL PRESENTER! If your school has had other assembly performers, you may have seen some who werent so good. If you read the testimonials at the beginning of this letter, you can see what some schools that have seen my show think about it. Just so you know, Ive been performing professionally for nearly 20 years. Among my credentials:
MY UNBEATABLE LOW FEE At this point, youre probably thinking to yourself, "Well, if this assembly show is as good as he says it is, it probably costs a fortune." The good news is, Ive got one more surprise for you- the fee for this terrific assembly program for the 2003-2004 school year is only $250. No hidden extras, no travel fees, no add-ons. Just $250 for a professional school assembly program for your students. Youre probably used to paying considerably more. And, if your school needs more than one program the same day, Ill even reduce the fee on all additional programs: any additional shows that same day get cut to only $150. You wont find any other programs of this quality for such a low fee. Why is my fee is so much lower than other assembly performers? To be quite honest, Id like your school to be a client for a long time. Id rather make less per show, and have schools lining up to hire me again for the following year, than to charge an exorbitant amount and never go back again. To me, thats just good business sense. THE TIME TO BOOK IS NOW! Obviously, time is short. This letter is going out to over 400 elementary schools in the County. Ive already re-booked quite a few schools from last year, who were anxious for a repeat performance. Once my calendar is full for the year, thats it. If you are truly interested in bringing The Magic Mystery Book Tour to your school, you need to call 619-444-2002. Waiting for even a few days may mean someone else gets your date. Now, I know you werent sitting around waiting for this letter to come in, and if your day is like mine, youve got a ton of other items on your "To-Do" list. You may be able to get by running your Reading program just like last years program - and youll probably get the same results. (Someone once defined "insanity" as doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.) Why not make this years Reading program the best your school district has ever seen? Call me at 619-444-2002, and lets set up a date to bring The Magic Mystery Book Tour to your students. If you put this letter aside, you may just forget about it, and your school may miss out. Call now. I look forward to hearing from you! Sincerely, Dana Law |
